When I first got my Z it was in rough shape and e, like any other 17 year old just wanted to drive around and the Z looked like a nice fast car... so bought it. Turned out it wasn't running so great and it came time for some serious work to be done (ticking sound) so i brought it to THREE DIFFERENT MECHANICS!!! and they all said that the motor was garbage and needed to be either rebuilt or junked completely. One mechanic went so far as to offer me $1000 for the car as-is. That or the car could be sold for parts or sent to a junkyard. Well that was extremely insulting and I searched through pages of forum chatter and tried everything from a simple oil change and sea foam to doing a 120K and breaking down the top end and cleaning everything. Turned out i needed an 02 sensor and a new wiring harness. Ill never take the Z to anyone whose just a run of the mill mechanic ever again. and to think i almost junked my baby cuz sum idiot told me i needed a new motor 1 week after i got it!
